Raised on the mud banks of the Avon River, Nova Scotian funeral director-turned-songwriter Terra Spencer draws you into a knee-to-knee conversation in a room of 5 or 500. With her butterscotch vibrato, deft fingerstyle guitar, church bench piano, quick wit, and ‘70s wood-paneled warmth, Terra has performed at many of Canada's premiere folk festivals, and charmed audiences in the UK and Germany. Her startling knack for telling intimate stories has led to a successful workshop series and collaborations with Don Brownrigg, Matt Andersen, and David Francey for his Juno-winning album "The Breath Between". Recently her song "Brick and Mortar" was named the winner of the Commonwealth Song Contest out of 20,000 entries. Her 2022 album with Ben Caplan, Old News, won 2023 Music NS Folk/Roots Recording of the Year award and earned nominations for 2024 CFMA Folk Recording and Contemporary Singer of the Year.
