Harmony Bazaar Festival of Women & Song began in 2005, growing out of the Shelburne County Women's Fishnet, a grassroots organization formed around rural kitchen tables to support women and families during the downturn of the traditional fishing industry. During a musical fundraiser, organizers recognized that women were rarely invited to perform their original music. From that moment, Harmony Bazaar was born out of a desire to create space for women’s voices, stories, and songs to be heard. What started as a small community-driven gathering has since grown into Atlantic Canada’s only dedicated women’s music festival, while remaining rooted in the same spirit of connection, creativity, and community pride. Over the years, the festival has expanded beyond the main stage to include workshops, late-night events, community breakfasts, harbour tours, visual art, and beachside experiences continuing to celebrate women and gender-diverse artists as creators, leaders, and change-makers in our communities.
